2009: Tessie led the Fighting Knights in singles wins, going 22-1 as the Blue and White reached the NCAA Finals... defeated a pair of nationally-ranked opponents... went 20-3 in doubles play.

At Prior University/College: Attended Western Carolina University in Cullowhee, N.C... played in the top spot for the Catamounts for two seasons... named second team All-Southern Conference as a sophomore in 2008.

At Prior High School: Played soccer, volleyball and basketball at Unidad Educativa Bilingue Nuevo Mundo... ranked 4^th in South America in tennis... volunteered at Fundacion Padre Damian, Amigos por la Vida and Fundacion Amigos de Animales.

Personal Information: Born September 20, 1987 in Guayaquil, Ecuador... full name is Maria Teresa Salame ... daughter of Fernando Salame and Teresa Aviles ... Has two siblings... sister is a TV host and model in their native Ecuador... speaks three languages.
