At Prior University/College: Spent 2009 at the University of Vermont but was redshirted...played two seasons under Travis Lallemand at Crowder College where he helped them win a Region XVI championship...was a teammate of former Fighting Knight Douglas Toro...earned NJCAA Scholar All-American recognition as a sophomore and was the recipient of the 2008 James T. Payne Achievement Award as the top academic student-athlete at Crowder...batted .354 with 15 doubles, two triples, two home runs and 21 runs batted in...was third on the team in batting average and doubles...posted a .286 average with two doubles, a triple and two home runs with 19 RBIs as a freshman.

At Prior High School: Played for J.R. Folds at Lakeside High School...three-year letterwinner...helped the Rams to back-to-back conference titles...as a senior, named to Arkansas-Democrat-Gazette All-Arkansas Team and was a 4A SW All-Conference selection while batting .548 with 12 doubles, four triples and a home run...member of the National Honor Society.

Personal Information: Born Richard Alan McVey on December 1, 1987 in Hot Springs, Arkansas...son of Tim and Kaye McVey...has one sibling, Jackie (24)...business administration major...enjoys lifting weights and traveling in his free time...listens to Blink 182 and enjoys scallops...describes himself as positive, motivated and personable.
