St.
Augustine, Fla. - Lynn University's softball team dropped a hard-fought
doubleheader to Armstrong
Atlantic State
on Sunday afternoon. The Fighting
Knights lost the opener 5-2 before the Pirates handed the Blue and White a 1-0
loss in the second game.
A close first game saw the Knights (3-7) take a 2-1 lead in
the bottom of the third on RBIs by Meghan Osborne and Amber Havnar. The Pirates (6-1) would respond a frame
later, plating the game-winning runs on a three-run home run by Bailey Temples.
Havnar collected three hits in the loss while Osborne added
a pair. Osborne also scored for the Knights,
as did Brittany Gross.
Even closer in the second game, Marianne Johnson pitched a
solid game for the Knights despite picking up the loss. A solo homer by Lauren Zachry was the only
run scored in the game as Johnson went six innings and allowed just four hits.
Osborne collected another pair of hits in the game,
including a triple, while Mika Tatar matched her with two base knocks and a
double.
Lynn
returns to action on Tuesday with a doubleheader against Northwood (Fla.) in West
Palm Beach.
