BOCA RATON, Fla. -
Lynn University's volleyball team fell to No. 13 Saint Leo 3-0 (25-20,
25-14, 25-23) in Sunshine State Conference action on Saturday afternoon. The Fighting Knights fall to 18-9 overall and
5-7 in league play.
Mallory Deneen led the Knights with 11 kills while Kala
Abdell added 10. Both players notched double-doubles
with 10 digs each.
Libero Lacy Redwine recorded a match-high 26 digs in the
loss.
Lynn outhit the Lions (25-2, 12-0 SSC) .312 to .195 in
the opening frame but couldn't pull out the win. With the tables turned in the second, the
Blue and White were outhit .308 to .065 but couldn't return the favor to go
down 2-0.
Battling in the third, the frame saw 15 ties and seven
lead changes. Knotted up at 23-23, SLU's
Chelsea Armer served out the match for the Lions and the win.
Emily Calderon-Reyes paced Saint Leo with 12 kills to
with 11 digs for a double-double. Armer
led the Lions with 16 digs.
Lynn returns to action on Tuesday against rival Barry on
the road in Miami Shores at 7 p.m.
