BOCA RATON, Fla. - Third-seeded and 17th-ranked Lynn University lost in the quarterfinals of the Sunshine State Conference Men's Soccer Championships against sixth-seeded Nova Southeastern in an extended shootout on Tuesday afternoon.  The Fighting Knights tied the game late in the second half but eventually fell 7-6 in penalty kicks after two scoreless overtimes.

Trading goals and saves through the first two rounds of the shootout, the Knights and Sharks (8-9-2) found themselves tied at 4-4 after a full five attempts each.  Rotating shooters, Lynn matched NSU shot for shot in the extended stanza before Tim Taylor's score in the third frame pushed the Sharks to the SSC semifinals.

In regulation, junior Kyle Conrad netted both LU goals.  The Jensen Beach, Fla., product took cross from Scott McCubbin and planted it in the back of the net off a diving header in the 24th minute.  The goal, Conrad's 13th of the season, knotted the contest at 1-1.

Trailing 2-1 late, Conrad added another score with the help of Paulo Vaz.  Vaz delivered a cross to Conrad on the left side, allowing the open Conrad to blast his second goal of the game in the 82nd minute over the Sharks keeper to force overtime.

Although NSU advances to the SSC semifinals, the match is officially a tie in the record books.  At 14-3-1, the Knights are still in the hunt for an NCAA South Region Tournament bid.
