Shores, Fla. - Lynn University's
volleyball team fell to rival Barry 3-2 (25-18, 20-25, 24-26. 26-24, 15-13) in
Sunshine State Conference action on Tuesday night. The Fighting Knights move to 18-10 on the
year and 5-8 in Sunshine State Conference action.
Finding themselves down 6-1 early in the fifth, the Knights
battled back in the final frame to knot the score at 13-13. Unable to complete the comeback, the Blue and
White fell 15-13 in the set.
Mallory Deneen led the Knights with 16 kills. Kala Abdell added 14, Chelsey Semprini had 13
and Sophie Gagnon added 12 in the loss.
Deneen, Abdell and Devon Woolard each tallied double-doubles
for Lynn. Woolard had 49 assists to go with 17 digs
while Abdell and Deneen had 20 and 17 digs, respectively.
Lacy Redwine led all players with 28 digs while Darian
Weppner added 10.
The Knights collected an impressive 102 digs as a team but
were undone by 32 attack errors. Lynn
hit over .200 in just one frame in the match.
Lynn
returns to action next Tuesday on the road against Nova Southeastern.
