Orlando, Fla. -Lynn University's student-athletes came up big in the classroom to go with another spectacular season,
placing 36 on the Sunshine State Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll. In addition, the Fighting Knights saw 112
student-athletes post grade-point averages of 3.0 or better, including 10 with
a perfect 4.00 GPA for the Fall semester, to place on the Lynn Athletic
Department Honor Roll.
To
be eligible for the Commissioner's Fall Honor Roll, a student-athlete must post
a minimum grade point average of 3.20 on a scale of 4.00. Participants in the
sports of men's and women's cross country, men's and women's soccer, and
volleyball were eligible for the honor roll.
A
student-athlete must have a 3.0 GPA to be eligible for the Lynn Athletic
Department Honor Roll. Sixty-eight percent of LU's student-athletes received a
GPA higher than 3.0 while 73 recorded a GPA of 3.50 or better, the higher since
the Fall of 2002.
Nine
of Lynn's 11 team had a GPA of 3.0 or higher with the volleyball team pacing
the women's side with a 3.70 GPA and the men's basketball team leading the men's
side with a 3.49 GPA. Overall, the
Fighting Knights recorded a 3.32 overall GPA for the Fall season.
Having
won 71 national championships since the league was founded in 1975, the SSC's
student-athletes have also proven to be successful in the classrooms. The NCAA
recently announced that, for the third consecutive year, the Sunshine State
Conference led all 22 Division II conferences with an Academic Success Rate of
85 percent.
